Makes 20 cookies
Ingredients:
¾ cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
¼ cup molasses
2-¼ cups flour
2 tsp. Ground ginger
1 tsp. Baking soda
¾ tsp. Ground cinnamon
½ tsp. Ground cloves
¼ tsp. Salt
Additional sugar
DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg and molasses. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; gradually add to the butter mixture and stir well.
Roll into 1-½-inch balls, then roll in sugar. Place 2 inch apart on a greased baking sheets. Bake for 15 minutes at 350° until lightly browned and crackled. Place cookies on wire racks to cool.
